A plate heat exchanger is a heat transfer device in which heat is exchanged between two fluids via thin metal plates.
The plates are equipped with elastomer gaskets that seal the flow channels and ensure that hot and cold media remain separated.
Due to the large heat transfer surface area and compact design, plate heat exchangers are particularly efficient and widely applicable in industry, HVAC, maritime, chemical, food, and energy sectors.
How does a plate heat exchanger work?
Warm and cold liquids flow in opposite directions along the plates.
The heat is transferred via the thin plate from the warm to the cold medium without the fluids mixing.
The counter-current principle ensures high thermal efficiency, even with relatively small temperature differences.
The capacity can be easily increased or decreased by adjusting the number of plates.
